Suriname Desk is a legal consultancy firm founded by me, Monique Watchman, Esq., in 2024. Before that, I worked for nine years as a lawyer and later as a partner and mediator at a renowned law firm in Paramaribo, Suriname. In that role, I gained experience in advising private individuals, the government, banks, multinationals, and NGOs. I also contributed to the Surinamese legislative proposal for the Sustainable Nature Management Act. I am skilled in analyzing legal issues, finding creative solutions, and representing the interests of my clients at a high level. With my track record and diverse experiences, I am a valuable partner for businesses and individuals seeking expert legal advice.
After a wonderful time in Suriname, I moved back to the Netherlands and therefore no longer practice as a lawyer. Due to my expertise in Surinamese law, I still provide legal advice in that area. I also continue to collaborate with lawyers and legal experts in Suriname.
